Introduction
Thanks for stopping by — I’m glad you’re here.
You may be wondering: Who is Michael Krall, and why work with me?
I bring a career’s worth of experience in public radio — the foundation of today’s audio landscape. The lessons I learned about storytelling, pacing, and polish apply just as much to podcasts, streaming, smart speakers, and on‑demand audio. Radio taught me the craft; modern platforms let me expand it.
And here’s the thing: radio is far from outdated. According to Nielsen, AM/FM radio still reaches about 80% of Americans weekly — more than any digital audio platform. No public radio station has shut down its transmitter, because broadcast remains the backbone of service. Digital audio extends the reach, but radio continues to deliver the largest audience.
I don’t claim to have seen it all, but I’ve seen enough to know what works. Good copy is a start, but audio that puts community first also makes a real difference. That’s part of the art. The science comes from how listeners process and remember sound, backed by research and a deep understanding of public radio.
Radio consultant Dan O’Day captured this perfectly: “Radio is the easiest thing in the world to do badly. That’s why there’s so much of it. Bad radio is easy to do… while good radio is fun to do.”
He’s right. There’s plenty of audio out there (broadcast or digital) that could use more polish. The good news? With just a bit more time, effort, and re‑framing, you can elevate your game and the payoff is huge.
My work is about creating a safe space to refine the craft, add polish, and connect more deeply with audiences. If you’re ready, let’s talk.
